One of the most noticeable signs of an unbalanced oral microbiome is persistent bad breath, also known as halitosis. When harmful bacteria overpopulate, they can produce volatile sulfur compounds that result in an unpleasant odor. If mouthwash or minty gums are only providing temporary relief, it may be time to assess your overall oral health. To restore balance, incorporate probiotic-rich foods like yogurt and sauerkraut into your diet.
